Event & Climate is a tool that helps organizers measure, carry out and communicate their climate actions.
Background
The digital tool Event & Climate was originally developed within the Vinnova-funded project Solutions for climate-smart events.
In addition to support from Vinnova, the project was carried out together with a large group of partners from the private sector, public sector, and civil society. The main partners were RISE, who coordinated the project, University of Gothenburg, West Sweden Tourist Board, Business Region Göteborg, Göteborg & Co, and Got Event. We are grateful to Mistra Sport & Outdoors and Region Västra Götaland for additional funding, which has been used to further develop and finalise the tool and its functions.
Who can use Event & Climate?
Anyone who organizes events, large or small, can use Event & Climate to manage their climate initiatives. The goal is for it to be easy to use even for those without prior knowledge in the climate field. The tool is currently free to use and will continue to be free for all smaller organizers.
Calculation basis
The tool includes three main functions: calculations, checklists and climate pledges/policy.
Event & Climate handles climate emissions in the following areas: accommodation, passenger transport, freight transport, food, energy, product procurement, and waste.
Methodology report
The methodology report contains documentation of data collection performed by experts in the different emission areas and includes assumptions and system boundaries for the various types of climate data used in the tool. The climate impact calculations are based on Swedish conditions. If you use the tool in another country, you may need to adjust the calculations.
Here you can download the methodology report for version 1.0 of Event & Climate. A new updated version of the methodology report that includes the latest changes in the tool is under development and will be launched during 2026.
